Relieve stress with Yoga

In this post, I want to share my experience with yoga as a stress reliever. As a young person, I struggled with a lower back issue that resulted in a surgical operation. I knew that I needed to find an activity that would be gentle on my body and help me cope with the stress of my condition.

I realised that my body had been sending me signals that something was not right, and that it was important to listen to it. I learned that by taking care of my body, I could protect myself from any other potential issues.

I traced the origins of my back issue to my childhood, specifically to my teenage years. My life changed a lot at that time and I did not know how to deal with everything, so stress took over for many years and my back issues were a result of that. However, looking back, I am glad to be where I am now, and even though it took some time, I have been able to achieve my dreams.

I want to encourage others who are struggling with stress to find something that makes them feel better. It doesn’t have to be sports, it can also be something creative like drawing, writing, or reading. For me, sports were the best way to relieve stress, but everyone is different, so find what works for you and enjoy it as much as you can.

In my youth, I did gymnastics because I loved it, not because of stress. But even at that young age, I didn’t realise how important it was to take care of my body. However, every time I trained, I felt incredibly happy, and that was my time, a time where negativity couldn’t disturb me. But, gymnastics is quite traumatic for the body, and my back started to send me bad signals at 15 years old.

Eventually, in 2008, my body could not take it anymore and I had to stop training. I was studying to be a fitness instructor and personal trainer in Toulon, France. I finally received proper care from a surgeon and had the operation. Though I was young for such an operation, I am glad it happened in my early twenties as my body was strong enough to recover quickly.

In conclusion, I want to stress the importance of finding an activity that helps you cope with stress, whether it be sports, arts, or anything else. It’s important to listen to your body and take care of it, as it is the only one you have for your entire life.
