MINDFULNESS COGNITIVE MEDITATION – WEEK 7 – ALL WORK AND NO PLAY

Week 7: Unveiling the Secrets of Life Balance

In Week 7, the focus shifted towards the elusive concept of life balance—a subject many seek answers for. The notion that there might not be a universal right answer but a personalized one, tailored to individual priorities, took center stage. Armed with an array of tools acquired throughout the course, participants gained the power to introspect, take control, and discern what truly nurtures them.

The Exhaustion Funnel:

The exhaustion funnel became a revealing model showcasing the ideal balance in life. The expansive circle at the top symbolised elements contributing to a happy and healthy lifestyle—work, hobbies, socializing, exercising, and more. Yet, in a world where stress and anxiety prevail, allowing these pressures to dominate can constrict the circle, diminishing the enjoyment of life’s essentials.

Maintaining a discipline of engaging in hobbies and social events emerged as a crucial aspect of achieving the right life balance. It was recognized that deliberate efforts are needed to explore and sustain what brings joy, nourishment, and happiness.

The exhaustion funnel shows us what a balanced life should look like, the circle at the top represents everything that nourishes a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Activity Schedule:

An enlightening exercise involved breaking down daily activities into three categories: nourishing, depleting, and neutral. Analyzing how time was spent revealed insights into making positive shifts towards activities that uplift and invigorate.

The Wheel of Life:

Participants delved into the Wheel of Life, a comprehensive representation of various life aspects, assigning a satisfaction rating from 1 to 10. This introspective evaluation pinpointed areas that needed more attention. The exercise prompted a closer examination of life’s balance, exposing aspects that required nurturing.

The homework for Week 7 encompassed integrating the cumulative learnings from previous weeks, coupled with notes on actionable changes to bring more equilibrium to life.
