Exploring the Depths of Meditation Benefits

I wanted to dedicate a separate post to delve into the benefits of meditation, not just by sharing what I’ve learned but also by shedding light on the science behind it. My natural inclination is to question the ‘why’ and ‘how.’ If I don’t comprehend the physiological workings of things, I find it challenging to fully embrace them.

My initial exposure to meditation was during my Yoga teacher training in India. Following our early morning Ashtanga practice, we dedicated a solid hour to meditation every day before breakfast. Sudhir, our mentor and school director, skillfully guided each meditation session, teaching us to progress from 20-minute to hour-long sessions.

Post-meditation, the sense of calmness and mental clarity was truly remarkable. Despite these positive experiences, sustaining the practice upon returning to London proved difficult due to work commitments and life’s demands. Additionally, the true benefits and the impact on the brain remained elusive.

Now armed with a comprehensive understanding, I’m fully committed to meditation, considering it an essential aspect of my life.
